Introduction
A urine protein level of 1+ does not necessarily require termination of pregnancy. A urine protein reading of 1+ mainly indicates a positive result, which during pregnancy is usually not serious and may be caused by sample contamination. It is recommended to have regular follow-up tests at the hospital. However, if the woman had kidney disease prior to pregnancy and has been taking medication during the preconception period, a urine protein level of 1+ might appear during testing.
