PCP pneumonia is not AIDS. PCP pneumonia refers to interstitial plasmacytic pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis jirovecii, which is an opportunistic pulmonary infection. In contrast, AIDS is a systemic disease typically caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). PCP pneumonia commonly occurs in individuals with AIDS but can also be seen in other immunodeficiency conditions.

PCP pneumonia is usually not AIDS.
