Introduction
A lump remaining after chalazion surgery may be normal or abnormal. A protrusion appearing about one week post-surgery could result from a normal postoperative reaction or, in individuals with a predisposition to scarring, from hyperplasia of tarsal scar tissue; these cases are generally considered normal. However, if the lump is due to incomplete removal of the chalazion during surgery, it is considered abnormal and requires repeat surgery to completely excise the residual chalazion and alleviate symptoms.

It is possible for a lump to remain after chalazion surgery; this may be normal or abnormal, depending on the specific circumstances.

1. Normal

A lump appearing about one week after surgery could be due to normal postoperative reactions. In patients with a predisposition to scarring (scar-prone constitution), hypertrophy of scar tissue in the tarsal plate following surgery may occur, which is generally considered normal. Under a doctor's guidance, treatments such as warm compresses and massage may help improve local blood circulation and promote resolution of the lump.

2. Abnormal

If the lump results from incomplete removal of the chalazion during surgery, this is considered abnormal. In such cases, repeat surgery is required to completely remove the remaining chalazion and relieve symptoms.

After surgery, it is important to get adequate rest, ensure sufficient sleep, and maintain a light diet, all of which help promote recovery from postoperative symptoms.
