Introduction
Flaking and peeling of the upper eyelid may resolve spontaneously or may not. It can be caused by skin contact with allergens in individuals with allergic predisposition; if symptoms are mild, avoiding the allergen may lead to self-resolution. In cases caused by atopic dermatitis, mild symptoms may also resolve on their own. However, when due to infectious pathogens causing pityriasis simplex or neurodermatitis, it cannot heal spontaneously and requires medical treatment under a doctor's guidance to restore damaged skin.

Dandruff and peeling on the upper eyelid may resolve on its own, or it may not, depending on the specific underlying cause of the symptoms.

1. Self-resolving cases

If an individual has an allergic constitution, contact with allergens may trigger acute or chronic inflammatory reactions in the skin and mucous membranes, leading to pathological and physiological skin changes. When symptoms are mild, avoiding the allergen often allows the condition to resolve spontaneously. Additionally, in cases of mild atopic dermatitis caused by genetic, environmental, or other factors, self-resolution is also possible.

2. Non-self-resolving cases

Conditions such as pityriasis simplex caused by pathogenic microbial infections, or neurodermatitis triggered by excessive stress, poor diet, or local irritation, typically do not resolve without treatment. Proper medical treatment under a doctor's guidance is usually required to control the condition and heal the skin lesions.
