Introduction
The patient lies on the operating table in a lateral position. The physician inserts an ultrasound probe through the anus into the rectum, locates the prostate tissue, and then advances a biopsy needle through the rectal wall into the prostate to obtain tissue samples. The collected specimens are promptly sent for pathological examination. After acquiring the required tissue, gauze is placed in the anus to control bleeding. Postoperatively, oral antibiotics are continued to prevent infection.
Prostate biopsy surgery generally refers to prostate needle biopsy, which is the most accurate diagnostic method for detecting prostate cancer. After the biopsy, the collected prostate tissue samples must be sent for pathological examination. The procedure should be performed at a正规 hospital, and the specific steps are as follows:
1. The patient lies on the operating table in a lateral position. The anesthesiologist administers local anesthesia. The doctor performs routine disinfection of the perineal area with iodophor and lays down a disposable surgical drape.
2. The doctor puts on gloves and applies vaseline or liquid paraffin to the fingertip. With the left hand supporting the patient's buttocks, the right index finger gently massages the anal opening before slowly inserting into the anus.
3. When the fingertip reaches approximately 5 cm inside the anterior rectal wall, the prostate can be palpated. The physician then examines the shape and any abnormalities of the prostate, roughly determines the extent of the lesion, and checks for hard nodules.
4. After initial assessment, the doctor withdraws the finger and inserts an ultrasound probe through the anus into the rectum. Once the prostate is located, a biopsy needle is inserted through the rectal wall into the prostate to collect tissue samples, which are promptly sent for pathological analysis.
5. After obtaining the required tissue samples, gauze is inserted into the anus to control bleeding.
After the procedure, oral antibiotics should be continued to prevent infection.
