Introduction
Swelling after ankle surgery can be reduced through cold therapy. Place crushed ice into a bag, add a small amount of cold water, and then seal the bag securely. Elevate the affected limb above heart level. Apply the ice bag to the swollen area for 30 minutes, then remove it and rest for 30–60 minutes before resuming another session of cold therapy.
Swelling after ankle surgery can be reduced through cold compress. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Break ice into small pieces and put them into a bag. Add a small amount of cold water to the bag, then seal it tightly. Turn the bag upside down to ensure it does not leak.
2. Before applying the cold compress, elevate the affected limb above heart level.
3. Place the bag on the affected limb. Apply the cold compress for 30 minutes at a time, then rest for 30–60 minutes before resuming.
Note: It is essential to control the duration of cold therapy properly. Prolonged or continuous application may cause frostbite to the skin and soft tissues, especially during sleep.
