Introduction
Floaters are categorized into physiological floaters and pathological floaters. Pseudo-floaters generally refer to physiological floaters, which are usually caused by aging, excessive eye use, or myopia. At birth, the vitreous body in the eye is in a gel-like state; as age increases, the vitreous undergoes liquefaction, atrophy, and collapse, causing the original collagen within the vitreous to become sticky and uneven.

Pseudo floaters generally refer to the appearance of small dot-like or fine thread-like floating objects in the visual field caused by vitreous liquefaction, which move along with eye movements.

Floaters can be classified into physiological and pathological types. Pseudo floaters usually refer to the physiological type, commonly caused by aging, excessive eye strain, or myopia. At birth, the vitreous humor in the eye is in a gel-like state; as one ages, the vitreous undergoes liquefaction, shrinkage, and detachment, causing the original collagen structure to become sticky and uneven. This disrupts the passage of light entering the eye, resulting in shadows being projected onto the retina, which manifests as floaters. Since pseudo floaters do not involve actual vitreous pathology, they typically do not require treatment.

It is recommended to maintain regular作息 (daily routines), avoid prolonged eye use, and ensure adequate eye rest. For patients experiencing pseudo floaters, medications such as chloramphenicol eye drops, polyvinyl alcohol eye drops, or ofloxacin eye drops may be used when necessary to alleviate symptoms.
