Feeling dazed and unable to wake up when trying to sleep
Feeling drowsy and unable to wake up during sleep may be caused by autonomic nervous dysfunction, sleep paralysis, hyperlipidemia, or other reasons.
1. Autonomic Nervous Dysfunction
If a person consciously tries to wake up during sleep but cannot do so, it may be due to autonomic nervous system dysfunction, primarily triggered by excessive psychological stress. This condition can be improved through psychological therapy at a hospital, along with medications such as oryzanol tablets or vitamin B1 to help alleviate symptoms.
2. Sleep Paralysis
Poor sleep quality or extreme fatigue in daily life may lead to sleep paralysis. During an episode, the brain is relatively alert, yet the individual cannot voluntarily wake up. This is considered a normal phenomenon and usually improves after adequate rest.
3. Hyperlipidemia
In middle-aged and elderly individuals, this symptom may indicate hyperlipidemia. Elevated blood lipid levels increase blood viscosity, which can easily cause dizziness or insomnia. During sleep, one might experience difficulty waking up. Treatment may include medications such as atorvastatin calcium tablets or simvastatin tablets, taken as directed by a physician.
Besides these, sleep paralysis disorder can also cause such episodes. Patients should maintain healthy sleep habits and engage in moderate exercise and physical activity regularly.
