Is it normal for a nearly four-month-old baby not to be able to roll over yet?
A baby nearing four months old who cannot yet roll over may be normal, but it could also indicate a potential issue.
Every baby is different, so developmental milestones are reached at varying speeds. Some babies begin rolling over between 3 to 4 months, which is generally considered normal. Others develop more slowly and may still not be able to roll over by 4 months. In such cases, there's usually no need for excessive concern, as this typically does not significantly affect the baby's overall physical development, as long as other aspects of growth remain on track.
However, if a baby is approaching 4 months and still cannot roll over, it might be related to an underlying medical condition. Clinically, disorders such as cerebral palsy or meningitis can impair a baby's development and lead to delays in motor skills like rolling over. In these instances, prompt medical evaluation is necessary.
