Will atypical hyperplasia of the breast recur after excision?
Breast atypical hyperplasia may not necessarily recur after surgical removal.
1. No recurrence
The risk of developing breast cancer varies depending on the pathological characteristics of different types of breast hyperplasia. The risk of breast cancer associated with atypical hyperplasia is not significantly high, and approximately 80% of patients with atypical hyperplasia will never develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
2. Possible recurrence
However, after removal of breast atypical hyperplasia, recurrence may still occur if triggered by factors such as hereditary predisposition or hormonal imbalances.
Patients who have undergone removal of atypical hyperplasia should avoid foods high in estrogen, maintain a positive mood, and avoid excessive sadness or anxiety. Additionally, regular follow-up visits to the hospital are recommended, and any abnormalities should be addressed and treated as early as possible.
