What causes left chest pain when lowering the head?
Left chest pain when lowering the head may be caused by myocardial ischemia, intercostal neuralgia, coronary heart disease, or other reasons.
1. Myocardial Ischemia
Patients with myocardial ischemia may experience pressure or burning pain behind the sternum and in the anterior chest area due to insufficient oxygen and blood supply to the heart muscle. It is recommended to take medications such as clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate tablets, enteric-coated aspirin tablets, and metoprolol tartrate tablets under a doctor's guidance.
2. Intercostal Neuralgia
Inflammation of the intercostal nerves can cause pain and sensory abnormalities in the areas they innervate. Appropriate local heat application or massage may help improve symptoms. Additionally, treatment under medical supervision may include vitamin B12 tablets, vitamin B6 tablets, and mecobalamin tablets.
3. Coronary Heart Disease
Patients with coronary heart disease often experience angina, leading to chest pain. Treatment may include medications such as enteric-coated aspirin tablets, clopidogrel tablets, and isosorbide mononitrate tablets, taken under a doctor’s direction.
Besides the above causes, conditions such as pulmonary embolism could also be responsible. Patients are advised to promptly visit a qualified hospital for examination, obtain an accurate diagnosis, and receive targeted treatment.
