How to manage fever caused by joint inflammation
Fever refers to an elevated body temperature. The management of fever caused by joint inflammation depends on the underlying cause. Common conditions include septic arthritis, rheumatic arthritis, and infectious arthritis.
1. Septic Arthritis
If septic arthritis is caused by a Staphylococcus aureus infection, treatment may involve aspiration and drainage of fluid from the joint cavity at a hospital. Removing the pus from the body can help improve symptoms.
2. Rheumatic Arthritis
If fever associated with rheumatic arthritis is due to infection by group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus, it is recommended to take medications such as enteric-coated aspirin tablets, ampicillin capsules, and methylprednisolone tablets under medical supervision to control disease progression.
3. Rheumatoid Arthritis
If fever in rheumatoid arthritis is triggered by pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses or bacteria, it is advisable to take anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, sulfasalazine enteric-coated tablets, and methotrexate tablets under a doctor's guidance to delay the progression of rheumatoid symptoms.
If symptoms persist without improvement or are accompanied by other signs, it is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and further treatment at a hospital.
