Why does my whole body ache after drinking alcohol?
Generalized body aches after drinking alcohol may be caused by excessive stomach acid, esophagitis, gastric ulcers, or other conditions, and symptomatic treatment under medical guidance is recommended.
1. Excessive Stomach Acid
Alcohol can irritate the gastric mucosa and promote gastric acid secretion. Excessive gastric acid may lead to acid reflux, causing acid burning in the esophagus and resulting in soreness or discomfort. Patients are advised to avoid spicy or irritating foods such as chili peppers, coffee, and strong tea. A light diet is recommended, and overeating should be avoided.
2. Esophagitis
Long-term or heavy alcohol consumption can cause esophagitis, damaging the esophageal mucosa and leading to symptoms such as acidity and burning sensation. Under medical supervision, medications such as pantoprazole sodium enteric-coated tablets or omeprazole enteric-coated capsules may be used for treatment.
3. Gastric Ulcer
Alcohol irritates the gastric mucosa. If the mucosa is already damaged, this irritation may lead to gastric ulcers, causing symptoms such as acid discomfort and stomach pain. Treatment under medical guidance may include lansoprazole capsules, omeprazole enteric-coated tablets, or ranitidine tablets.
In addition, gastritis could also be a possible cause. It is recommended to avoid excessive fatigue and maintain healthy lifestyle habits, including regular作息 (daily routine) and sufficient sleep. Reducing alcohol intake or quitting drinking altogether is advisable to prevent further irritation of the gastric mucosa.
