Pain in the nose extending to the eyes
Pain in the nose extending to the eyes may be caused by trauma, ethmoid sinusitis, acute dacryocystitis, or other reasons.
1. Trauma
The pain might result from injury to the area where the nose connects to the eyes, causing swelling of soft tissues or bleeding in the subcutaneous capillaries. Applying an ice pack for local cold compression can help constrict capillaries and reduce swelling.
2. Ethmoid Sinusitis
Blockage in the nasal sinuses or sinus openings may impair sinus drainage, leading to ethmoid sinusitis and allowing inflammatory factors to enter the ethmoid sinuses. Treatment may include medications such as amoxicillin capsules, metronidazole tablets, or tinidazole tablets, as directed by a physician.
3. Acute Dacryocystitis
This condition may occur due to decreased immunity or bacterial invasion, resulting in blocked tear ducts and accumulation of bacteria in the lacrimal sac. Medications such as cefixime dispersible tablets, cefradine capsules, or cefuroxime axetil tablets may be used under medical guidance.
In addition, this symptom could also be caused by peripheral neuropathy. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation, obtain an accurate diagnosis, and receive appropriate treatment accordingly.
