The 13-valent pneumococcal vaccine is designed to prevent infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, protecting against diseases caused by 13 types of pneumococcal bacteria, including pneumonia, sepsis, and meningitis. Receiving this vaccine can also enhance the body's immunity against pneumococcal bacteria, reducing the risk of infection, lowering the incidence of pneumococcal-related diseases, and decreasing disease-related mortality and disability rates.

In general, individuals should be in good health when receiving vaccines. If the body is already fighting an illness, vaccination may affect immune response and could potentially worsen symptoms. Therefore, if cold symptoms are mild, it's advisable to wait until recovery before getting vaccinated. If symptoms are severe, vaccination should be postponed until full recovery.

Before vaccination, consult a doctor and follow their recommendations. For one day after vaccination, avoid getting the injection site wet. Maintain a light diet, consume plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid spicy or irritating foods.
