Pregnancy Week 32 Checkup Items
At 32 weeks of pregnancy, routine examinations generally include weight, fetal heart rate, and fetal position assessment. The details are as follows:
1. Weight
By monitoring changes in the pregnant woman's weight gain, fetal development can be indirectly assessed. Excessive maternal weight gain may indicate that the fetus is receiving too much nutrition and is growing large. Conversely, insufficient weight gain may suggest poor fetal nutrition, potentially leading to delayed development.
2. Fetal Heart Rate
Fetal heart rate refers to the number of fetal heartbeats within a given time period. At 32 weeks, pregnancy has entered the late stage. By this time, the fetus’s limbs are gradually maturing, and the space within the uterus becomes more confined, which may compress the umbilical cord and reduce oxygen supply to the fetus. Therefore, monitoring fetal heart rate is essential to detect possible oxygen deprivation.
3. Fetal Position Assessment
This refers to the position of the fetus inside the uterus, typically evaluated via ultrasound or physical palpation. Determining the fetus’s posture and position helps decide the appropriate mode of delivery. If abnormal fetal positioning is detected, timely interventions can be made to correct it and avoid complications during childbirth.
In addition, fetal heart monitoring is also recommended. It is advised to maintain good personal hygiene and avoid excessive fatigue.
