Introduction
Abdominal pain refers to pain in the belly. Sudden abdominal pain at night during the 32rd week of pregnancy may be caused by false labor contractions (Braxton Hicks contractions), especially when symptoms become more noticeable after physical exertion. It could also result from acute gastroenteritis due to consuming contaminated food, in which inflammation irritates the gastrointestinal tract and causes abdominal discomfort. If the abdominal pain is severe and accompanied by vaginal bleeding, and ultrasound shows either presence or absence of cervical shortening, it may indicate threatened preterm labor.

Abdominal pain, clinically referred to as腹痛 (abdominal pain), may be a normal occurrence when it suddenly happens at night during the 32nd week of pregnancy, but it could also indicate pathological conditions such as acute gastroenteritis or preterm labor. The specific analysis is as follows:

I. Normal Phenomenon

In late pregnancy, varying degrees of false labor contractions (Braxton Hicks contractions) may occur. These contractions can cause symptoms such as abdominal tightening and pain, especially after physical exertion. Symptoms usually improve gradually with adequate rest.

II. Pathological Conditions

1. Acute Gastroenteritis

If unclean food consumed during the day leads to acute gastroenteritis, inflammation-induced gastrointestinal irritation can cause abdominal discomfort. It is recommended to take medications such as cefixime capsules, cefixime tablets, or cefuroxime axetil tablets under medical supervision to control the inflammation and relieve symptoms.

2. Preterm Labor

If abdominal pain is significant and accompanied by slight vaginal bleeding, ultrasound may show shortening of the cervical canal (with or without). This could indicate preterm labor, requiring immediate hospitalization for fetal preservation treatment.

In addition, other possible causes include pelvic inflammatory disease, threatened miscarriage, placental abruption, etc. If symptoms persist without improvement, prompt medical attention is necessary.
