Introduction
In late pregnancy, water breaking may cause some women to only feel a warm flow from the vagina, similar to urination, but it continues to leak and may not be accompanied by abdominal pain. Since amniotic fluid contains prostaglandins, once the amniotic membrane ruptures and the fluid leaks out, the prostaglandins may stimulate uterine contractions. Additionally, the fetal head pressing tightly against the cervix can lead to ongoing uterine contractions, resulting in abdominal pain.

Whether abdominal pain occurs after water breaking in late pregnancy needs to be determined based on clinical signs. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. No abdominal pain

In late pregnancy, some women may only feel a warm fluid flowing from the vagina, similar to urination, but it continues to leak and may not be accompanied by abdominal pain. However, after the membranes have ruptured for some time, episodic abdominal pain may develop, usually caused by uterine contractions.

2. Abdominal pain may occur

Amniotic fluid contains prostaglandins. Once the amniotic sac ruptures and the fluid leaks out, these prostaglandins may stimulate uterine contractions. Additionally, the fetal head presses tightly against the cervix, promoting continuous uterine contractions, which can lead to abdominal pain.

After water breaks in late pregnancy, it's important to seek immediate medical attention and prepare for delivery to prevent prolonged exposure that could result in fetal hypoxia or asphyxia.
