What do gynecological trichomonads look like?
Gynecological trichomoniasis refers to trichomonal vaginitis. The main symptoms of trichomonal vaginitis include abnormal vaginal discharge, vaginal discomfort, and foul odor. Specific details are as follows:
1. Abnormal Vaginal Discharge
After contracting trichomonal vaginitis, patients experience increased vaginal secretions. The discharge is typically thin, purulent, and frothy.
2. Vaginal Discomfort
Infection causes itching and irritation of the vulva and vagina, accompanied by a burning sensation, pain, and dyspareunia (pain during intercourse). In severe cases, punctate bleeding of the vaginal and cervical mucosa may occur.
3. Foul Odor
The infection produces a fishy odor. When mixed with other bacterial infections, the discharged secretions emit a particularly strong unpleasant smell.
In addition to the above symptoms, patients may also experience urinary symptoms such as urgency, frequency, and dysuria. Trichomonal vaginitis can usually be treated under medical guidance with medications such as metronidazole tablets, tinidazole tablets, and metronidazole vaginal suppositories.
