Introduction
In the recovery phase of acute pancreatitis, patients can generally eat processed sausage (ham sausage), but if the patient's recovery is poor, they should not. Pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition of the pancreas, primarily caused by factors such as overeating or local infection. External stimuli can increase pancreatic secretion, thereby increasing its burden, leading to spasm of the local sphincter muscle and preventing the discharge of pancreatic juice.

During the recovery phase of acute pancreatitis, patients may generally consume sausage, but if the patient's condition is recovering poorly, it should be avoided. The details are as follows:

1. Can consume

Pancreatitis is an inflammatory response in the pancreas, primarily caused by factors such as overeating or local infections. External stimuli can increase pancreatic secretory activity, thereby increasing its burden, leading to spasm of local sphincters, preventing the discharge of pancreatic juice, and irritating surrounding healthy tissues, which may trigger acute pancreatitis. If a patient’s condition is well-controlled during recovery without signs of infection, small amounts of sausage can be consumed to help supplement necessary nutrients.

2. Should not consume

Sausage contains a relatively high amount of additives. If the patient is recovering poorly or fails to maintain proper dietary control, resulting in recurrent symptoms, consuming sausage may further increase the burden on the pancreas. In severe cases, it could lead to soft tissue necrosis and subsequent local infection; therefore, it should be avoided.

Patients are advised to choose easily digestible foods in daily life, gradually resume their diet, avoid high-fat foods, and maintain healthy body weight.
