Dizziness and vertigo when lying down may be caused by conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), cervical spondylosis, or hypertension. BPPV is a disorder of the auditory and balance sensory organs, primarily due to dislodged or displaced small particles in the inner ear, leading to abnormal stimulation of the inner ear sensory organs and resulting in symptoms such as dizziness and headache. It can be treated with procedures such as semicircular canal occlusion or posterior ampullary nerve section.

Generally, experiencing vertigo or dizziness when lying down to sleep may be caused by conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), cervical spondylosis, or hypertension. A detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

BPPV is a disorder of the auditory and balance sensory organs, primarily caused by the dislodging or displacement of tiny crystals in the inner ear. This leads to abnormal stimulation of the vestibular organs, resulting in symptoms such as vertigo and headache. Treatment options include semicircular canal occlusion or posterior ampullary nerve section.

2. Cervical Spondylosis

Narrowing of the cervical spinal canal can impair blood circulation, obstructing oxygen and blood supply to the brain, leading to symptoms such as localized pain and limb numbness. This condition can be treated surgically via an anterior cervical approach.

3. Hypertension

Patients with hypertension place their hearts under constant high pressure, increasing cardiac workload, which may compromise cerebral blood flow and oxygen supply, causing symptoms like headache and head fullness. Medications such as nifedipine tablets or enalapril maleate tablets may be used as directed by a physician.

Besides the above causes, dizziness when lying down may also result from hypotension, hypoglycemia, cerebral infarction, or other conditions. During illness, it's important to maintain a healthy diet and avoid excessive fatigue to help prevent or alleviate symptoms of head discomfort.
