How to collect urine for a pregnancy test strip
Generally, pregnancy test strips use human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) present in urine to preliminarily determine whether a woman is pregnant. The specific operating steps are as follows:
1. Wash your hands, tear open the aluminum foil packaging along the notch, and remove the pregnancy test strip.
2. Put on disposable plastic gloves, hold the handle end of the test strip firmly with your thumb, and keep the urine-absorbing end pointing downward.
3. Direct the urine stream toward the side opening (urine absorption hole) of the test strip so that the urine passes through the absorption hole.
4. Wait for 4–5 minutes, then observe the Control zone (C) and Test zone (T). If only one red line appears in the C zone, the result is negative, indicating that the woman is likely not pregnant. If red lines appear in both the C and T zones, the result is positive, indicating that the woman may be pregnant. If no red line appears at all, or if a red line appears only in the T zone, the test result is invalid and should be repeated.
It should be noted that if testing for pregnancy early in conception using urine, first-morning urine is generally recommended. However, inaccurate results may occur due to improper operation. Therefore, to ensure accuracy, it is advisable to visit a qualified medical facility and undergo examination under the guidance of a professional doctor.
