Massage methods for reducing fever
Generally, massage techniques for fever reduction include five methods: opening the Heavenly Gate (Kai Tianmen), pushing the Kan Palace (Tui Kan Gong), moving the Sun (Yun Taiyang), clearing the Lung Meridian (Qing Fei Jing), and clearing the Heavenly River Water (Qing Tian He Shui). Taking "opening the Heavenly Gate" as an example, the specific procedure is as follows:
1. Locate the acupoint for massage; the Heavenly Gate point is typically found at the midpoint between the eyebrows on the forehead.
2. Disinfect the practitioner's hands and the massage area using alcohol or iodophor.
3. Use the fleshy part of both thumbs alternately to massage vertically upward from a lower to a higher position, repeating the motion 50–100 times.
During massage, attention should be paid to the pressure applied. Excessive force may damage the skin, while insufficient force may render the treatment ineffective. It is recommended to perform this technique under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional.
