Pervasive developmental disorder is a group of conditions caused by neurodevelopmental abnormalities, including autism, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, Asperger syndrome, and unspecified pervasive developmental disorder. It may also be related to complications during pregnancy such as threatened miscarriage, viral infections, abnormal fetal position, or maternal emotional instability.
