Baby's temperature dropped to 35°C after fever subsided, body feels cold all over and is sweating
Fever generally refers to an elevated body temperature, and 35 degrees means 35°C. When a baby's temperature drops to 35°C after fever subsides, accompanied by cold skin and sweating, it is usually due to the cooling effect of perspiration following fever reduction. However, if excessive antipyretic medication causes a rapid drop in body temperature, resulting in the baby's temperature falling to 35°C with sweating after fever relief, this is considered abnormal and requires fluid replacement therapy.
When babies have a fever, their bodies are generally weak and metabolic rates slow down, which may prolong the effect of medications and lead to a post-fever temperature of 35°C with continued sweating. Parents should give the baby more water to promote metabolism; the condition will gradually improve. Monitor the baby's temperature closely during this period.
When treating fever in babies, medication is commonly used along with physical cooling methods. If physical cooling lowers the baby’s temperature but parents fail to recheck the temperature promptly, they may inadvertently administer excess medication, potentially causing the baby’s temperature to drop below 35°C after fever reduction, accompanied by sweating. Promptly provide the baby with light salt water to prevent electrolyte imbalance caused by excessive sweating. If symptoms persist without improvement, seek medical evaluation promptly and receive intravenous fluid therapy under a doctor’s guidance.
Antipyretic medications for babies with fever should be administered only under a doctor's supervision.
