High fever of 40°C with extensive high infection in the lungs
High fever refers to hyperpyrexia. In general, when body temperature reaches 40°C accompanied by extensive lung infection, symptoms can be alleviated through measures such as maintaining hand hygiene, adopting healthy lifestyle habits, antipyretic treatment, anti-infective therapy, and nebulization therapy. Specific approaches are analyzed as follows:
1. Maintain Hand Hygiene
Severe lung infection is a contagious disease that can easily spread through the air. Therefore, during treatment, it is essential to maintain good hand hygiene by frequently washing hands, wearing masks, and minimizing contact with the outside environment.
2. Maintain Healthy Lifestyle Habits
Ensuring adequate sleep and engaging in moderate exercise can help strengthen the immune system. It is advisable to drink plenty of water, avoid smoking and secondhand smoke, and breathe fresh air regularly.
3. Antipyretic Treatment
If oral, axillary, or rectal temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, physical cooling methods are generally recommended, such as wiping the body with lukewarm water. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C and persistent high fever occurs, medications such as acetaminophen tablets or ibuprofen tablets should be taken orally under medical supervision.
4. Anti-infective Therapy
In cases of bacterial infection, anti-infective treatment should be administered according to the severity of illness. Patients may take antibiotics such as cefuroxime axetil capsules or cefradine capsules orally as directed by a physician.
5. Nebulization Therapy
Lung infection patients often experience coughing with sputum production and may require expectorant and antitussive medications. Nebulized inhalation therapy can be used, with medications such as ribavirin injection or xiyanping injection administered as prescribed by a doctor.
If any discomfort occurs, seek prompt medical attention for targeted treatment to avoid delaying recovery.
