The affected area typically becomes red, swollen, and painful. Patients may use levofloxacin eye drops or erythromycin eye ointment to relieve discomfort. In severe cases, oral antibiotics such as erythromycin capsules or cefixime capsules may be prescribed under medical supervision.

In addition, red eyes in the elderly may also result from subconjunctival hemorrhage or acute glaucoma attacks. If symptoms persist, prompt medical attention is advised to prevent further complications.
