Introduction
The nitric oxide report can be interpreted based on whether the result exceeds the reference range of 5–25 ppb. If the nitric oxide level falls outside this reference range, it may indicate certain abnormalities. A nitric oxide level below the normal range may suggest problems with nitric oxide synthesis or release. Nitric oxide plays various physiological roles in the body.
Under normal circumstances, a nitric oxide test report can be evaluated based on whether the result falls within the reference range of 5–25 ppb. The specific analysis is as follows:
1. Outside the reference range: If the nitric oxide level is not within the normal reference range, it may indicate certain abnormalities. If nitric oxide levels are below the normal range, this could suggest problems with nitric oxide synthesis or release. Nitric oxide plays multiple physiological roles in the body, including blood vessel dilation, and regulation of the immune and nervous systems. Low nitric oxide levels may be associated with vascular dysfunction, inflammation, or other health issues. Conversely, if nitric oxide levels are above the normal range, this may also indicate potential health problems. 2. Within the reference range: Nitric oxide measurements are typically expressed in parts per billion (ppb), with a normal range generally considered to be 5–25 ppb. When the measured nitric oxide value falls within this reference range, it usually indicates the absence of airway abnormalities.
