How to read a blood glucose test report
Under normal circumstances, a blood glucose report should be evaluated based on fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and glucose tolerance test results. The specific analysis is as follows:
1. Fasting Blood Glucose: Fasting blood glucose refers to the blood glucose level after at least 8 hours without consuming any calories. The normal range for fasting blood glucose is 4.4–6.1 mmol/L.
2. Hemoglobin: Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells that gives blood its red color. The normal hemoglobin range for adult males is 120–160 g/L, and for adult females, it is 110–150 g/L.
3. Glucose Tolerance Test Value: This value is obtained through an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). A result greater than 11.1 mmol/L may indicate the presence of diabetes.
If any of these indicators are abnormal, it is recommended to promptly complete further relevant examinations to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
