How to read a blood glucose test report
Under normal circumstances, a blood glucose test report should be interpreted by examining the measured blood glucose values. The specific analysis is as follows:
Blood glucose refers to the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream. Common blood glucose measurements include random blood glucose, fasting blood glucose, and postprandial blood glucose. Random blood glucose is the glucose level measured from a sample of venous blood taken at any time during the day, with a normal range of 3.9–11.1 mmol/L. Fasting blood glucose refers to the blood glucose level after at least 8 hours without consuming any caloric intake, with a normal range of 4.4–6.1 mmol/L. Postprandial blood glucose is the blood glucose level measured two hours after a meal, with a normal value below 7.8 mmol/L.
If any of these three blood glucose measurements fall outside the normal ranges, it is recommended to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment to prevent adverse effects.
