Introduction
"Getting the MMR vaccine" may refer to receiving the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) combined vaccine. Whether medication can be taken after receiving the MMR vaccine depends on the type of medication. Generally, antiviral drugs, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and similar medications should be avoided, but cold medicines and antipyretics are usually acceptable. If any adverse symptoms occur after vaccination, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.

"Getting the MMR vaccine" may refer to receiving the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) trivalent vaccine. Whether medication can be taken after getting the MMR vaccine depends on the type of medication. Generally, antiviral drugs, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and similar medications should be avoided, but cold medicines and antipyretics are usually acceptable.

The MMR trivalent vaccine is primarily used to prevent acute respiratory infectious diseases such as measles, mumps, and rubella. After vaccination, mild fever may occur, although body temperature generally does not exceed 38°C. If medication is needed after vaccination, certain types—such as antivirals, glucocorticoids, or immunosuppressants (e.g., ribavirin tablets, acyclovir tablets, prednisone acetate tablets, azathioprine tablets)—may interfere with the vaccine's effectiveness, reducing its protective effect, as these drugs might inactivate the active components in the vaccine.

However, taking medications such as cold remedies or fever reducers—like感冒Qingre Granules, Cold-Relieving and Wind-Dispelling Capsules, or ibuprofen tablets—is generally safe, as these typically do not affect the vaccine’s efficacy.

When using any of the above medications, patients are advised to strictly follow medical guidance to avoid health risks due to incorrect dosages. After vaccination, individuals should ensure adequate rest, avoid staying up late, maintain a light diet, and consume fresh vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, and lettuce appropriately to support recovery.
