Introduction
Under normal circumstances, the vast majority of patients can successfully walk without crutches about 40 days after hip replacement surgery. Typically, patients can begin walking with crutches as early as the second day after surgery, following initial pain management. Most patients gradually attempt to walk without crutches between 14 and 28 days postoperatively. Therefore, by 40 days after surgery, most patients are theoretically able to discontinue using crutches.

Typically, patients can begin walking with crutches as early as the second day after hip replacement surgery, following initial pain management. Most patients may gradually attempt to walk without crutches between 14 and 28 days post-surgery. Therefore, by 40 days after surgery, most patients are theoretically capable of discontinuing crutch use.

However, certain special conditions—such as pre-existing chronic diseases like diabetes or osteoporosis—may slow down the recovery process, making it difficult for patients to stop using crutches even after 40 days. Additionally, postoperative complications such as infection, prosthetic dislocation, or deep vein thrombosis can significantly prolong the recovery period.

During the recovery process, patients should maintain a positive mindset and an active lifestyle, follow medical advice for rehabilitation exercises, and avoid excessive activity or injury.
