Introduction
In general, hyperventilation syndrome refers to a condition characterized by excessive breathing during episodes of emotional tension or hysteria, which is associated with respiratory alkalosis caused by excessive carbon dioxide excretion. Hyperventilation syndrome can usually be treated through methods such as adjusting breathing patterns, breathing into a paper bag, using a rebreathing mask for oxygen inhalation, administering sedatives, and using medications that regulate the respiratory center.

Generally, hyperventilation syndrome refers to excessive breathing that occurs during episodes of emotional tension or hysteria, and is related to respiratory alkalosis caused by excessive elimination of carbon dioxide. Hyperventilation syndrome can usually be treated by adjusting breathing patterns, using a paper bag breathing technique, wearing a rebreathing mask with oxygen, administering sedatives, and using medications to regulate the respiratory center.

1. Adjusting Breathing Patterns: Patients can practice gradually learning the correct breathing rhythm, decreasing respiratory rate, and increasing breathing depth to improve the condition of excessive ventilation.

2. Paper Bag Breathing Technique: When a patient experiences symptoms of hyperventilation, they can use a paper or plastic bag to cover their mouth and nose while breathing. This allows the carbon dioxide exhaled by the patient to be re-inhaled, increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood and alleviating symptoms caused by respiratory alkalosis.

3. Rebreathing Mask with Oxygen: A rebreathing mask allows part of the gas exhaled by the patient to be inhaled again, increasing the reabsorption of carbon dioxide, thereby correcting hypocapnia and respiratory alkalosis caused by hyperventilation.

4. Sedatives: In severe cases, appropriate sedatives such as diazepam tablets or zopiclone tablets may be used. These medications can relieve the patient's anxiety, reduce respiratory rate, and alleviate symptoms of excessive ventilation.

5. Medications to Regulate the Respiratory Center: Medications such as acetazolamide tablets can regulate the respiratory center, inhibit the activity of carbonic anhydrase, and reduce the renal tubular reabsorption of bicarbonate ions, thereby increasing the level of carbon dioxide in the blood, correcting respiratory alkalosis, and alleviating symptoms of hyperventilation.

Patients are advised to build confidence in treatment, develop a correct understanding of the disease, and divert attention through activities such as listening to music and exercising in daily life to relieve tension and promote recovery.
