Introduction
Spleen-related cough is often caused by spleen deficiency, and may also be associated with pathological conditions such as damp-heat or deficiency-cold in the spleen and stomach. Spleen deficiency leads to dysfunction of the spleen's physiological functions, affecting the transformation and transportation of food essence, thereby triggering symptoms such as coughing. Lung cough is mainly caused by upper respiratory tract infections, pulmonary infections, bronchial asthma, allergies, and other factors. These factors cause upward rebellion of lung qi, resulting in coughing.

Generally speaking, cough due to spleen dysfunction and cough due to lung disorders are two different types of cough, which usually differ in causes, symptoms, treatment methods, prevention, and other aspects. The analysis is as follows:

1. Causes: Spleen-related cough is often caused by spleen deficiency and may also be related to pathological conditions such as damp-heat or cold deficiency in the spleen and stomach. Spleen deficiency leads to dysfunction of the spleen's normal physiological functions, affecting the transformation and transportation of nutrients from food and water, thereby causing symptoms such as coughing. Lung-related cough is mainly caused by upper respiratory tract infections, lung infections, bronchial asthma, allergies, and other factors. These factors cause upward reversal of lung qi, resulting in coughing.

2. Symptoms: Spleen-related cough may involve thick, sticky phlegm that is difficult to expel. It is often accompanied by symptoms such as picky eating, poor appetite, abdominal distension, and loose or unformed stools. Lung-related cough is characterized by frequent coughing, possibly with phlegm that is typically yellow or white in color, and may be accompanied by chest pain or discomfort.

3. Treatment: For spleen-related cough, medications such as Shenling Baizhu San (Powder of Medicinal Herbs), Buzhong Yiqi Wan (Spleen-Qi Tonic Pills), or Ganlu Xiaodu Wan (Ganlu Antitoxic Pills) may be used under a physician's guidance. For lung-related cough, medications such as Compound Liquorice Oral Solution, Maxing Zhike Tangjiang (Apricot and Ephedra Cough Syrup), or Yin Qiao Jie Du Pian (Honeysuckle Anti-Cold Tablets) are generally used according to medical advice.

4. Prevention: Prevention of spleen-related cough involves maintaining good lifestyle and dietary habits, avoiding overeating and excessive fatigue. Prevention of lung-related cough mainly involves keeping indoor air fresh and avoiding exposure to harmful gases and allergens.

When treating cough, syndrome differentiation and treatment should be conducted based on the patient's specific symptoms and underlying causes. In daily life, it is recommended to engage in appropriate physical exercise, which helps improve immunity and prevent illness.
