Introduction
Under normal circumstances, when infants are exposed to sunlight, attention should be paid to the timing, exposed body parts, environmental conditions, clothing, and hydration. If any discomfort occurs during sun exposure, medical advice should be sought promptly. In daily life, taking infants outdoors regularly for sun exposure and fresh air is beneficial for vitamin D supplementation.

Generally, when exposing infants to sunlight, attention should be paid to the timing, exposed body parts, environmental selection, clothing, and hydration. If any discomfort occurs during sun exposure, medical advice should be sought promptly. Detailed recommendations are as follows:

1. Timing

In spring and autumn, the sunlight is relatively mild. The ultraviolet radiation intensity between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM and between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM is moderate and unlikely to harm an infant's delicate skin. In summer, due to stronger sunlight and higher UV radiation, the preferable times are between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM or between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Additionally, if the weather is clear during winter, exposure between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM is recommended, as it tends to be warmer during this period. Each sun exposure session should last around 5 to 10 minutes and generally should not exceed 30 minutes.

2. Exposed Body Parts

Initially, it is advisable to expose the infant's hands and feet first, as these areas have relatively more tolerant skin and are easier to expose. After the infant adapts, the exposed areas can be gradually increased, such as legs and the back. However, it is important to protect the infant's eyes and genital area from direct sunlight exposure.

3. Environmental Selection

It is preferable to choose outdoor environments with good air quality and fresh air, such as grassy areas in parks or gardens in residential communities. This allows the infant to breathe fresh air, which benefits physical development.

4. Clothing

Infants should wear breathable clothing while being exposed to sunlight. It is not recommended to overdress the infant, as this may cause excessive sweating and discomfort during sun exposure.

5. Hydration

During sun exposure, infants may lose water through perspiration, so it is important to ensure adequate hydration. Offering some warm water before or after sun exposure can help maintain the infant's fluid balance.

In daily life, taking infants outdoors for sun exposure and fresh air is beneficial for vitamin D synthesis. For infants with jaundice, sunlight exposure can effectively alleviate symptoms and promote metabolism and blood circulation, which supports healthy growth and development.
