Introduction
Under normal circumstances, double eyelid surgery refers to blepharoplasty (creation of double eyelids). It is normal for the eyes to swell after blepharoplasty. Measures such as local cold compresses, local hot compresses, proper eye usage, dietary adjustments, and medication may help reduce swelling. Each individual's recovery process and physical condition are different; therefore, the time and methods for swelling reduction may vary from person to person.

Generally, double eyelid surgery refers to blepharoplasty. It is normal to experience eye swelling after blepharoplasty. Measures such as local cold compress, local heat compress, appropriate use of eyes, dietary adjustments, and medication treatment can be taken to help reduce swelling. The details are as follows:

1. Local Cold Compress

A cold compress using items such as ice packs or cold towels can be applied gently to the eye area within 48 hours after surgery. This can help constrict local blood vessels, reduce blood flow, and thus alleviate tissue edema and pain. Ensure the cold compress items are clean and dry, and avoid direct contact with the wound.

2. Local Heat Compress

After 72 hours or a longer period post-surgery, a warm towel soaked in warm water or a specialized heated eye mask can be gently applied to the eye area. Heat compress helps dilate capillaries, accelerate blood circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage, thereby relieving eye swelling. The temperature of the heat compress should be slightly higher than skin temperature to avoid burns.

   3. Appropriate Use of Eyes

Excessive use of the eyes should be avoided after surgery, such as prolonged use of mobile phones or watching television. Maintaining proper rest and sleep helps eye recovery and reduces swelling.

4. Dietary Adjustments

Adjust the diet after surgery, consuming more foods rich in vitamins and proteins, such as fresh vegetables and fruits, and lean meats. Avoid spicy and irritating foods and seafood that may trigger allergic reactions, as they may affect wound healing and exacerbate swelling.

5. Medication Treatment

If swelling persists or causes pain, medications such as Melilotus officinalis extract tablets, Venoruton tablets, or Tobramycin Dexamethasone eye ointment may be used under a doctor's advice to prevent infection and reduce swelling.

Everyone's recovery condition and physical constitution are different, so the time and methods for reducing swelling may vary. During the postoperative recovery period, closely monitor the eye condition. If severe pain, redness and swelling, bleeding, or other symptoms occur, seek timely medical consultation from a professional doctor.
