Introduction
The three main thyroid function tests primarily include thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and free thyroxine (FT4). These indicators are the primary basis for evaluating thyroid function. Normal results of these three tests generally suggest that the production and regulation of thyroid hormones are within the normal range. In most cases, if these three thyroid function tests are normal, it can be considered that the thyroid function is essentially normal.

Normal results in the three thyroid function tests generally indicate a healthy thyroid, but they do not completely rule out other thyroid disorders.

The three thyroid function tests mainly include thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and free thyroxine (FT4). These indicators are the primary basis for assessing thyroid function. Normal results in these three tests usually suggest that the production and regulation of thyroid hormones are within normal ranges. In most cases, if the results of these three tests are normal, thyroid function can generally be considered normal, without hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism present.

However, even with normal results in the three thyroid function tests, some thyroid disorders cannot be completely ruled out, such as subclinical hyperthyroidism or subclinical hypothyroidism, autoimmune thyroid diseases, or thyroid nodules. In these cases, thyroid function may not yet show clear abnormalities, but health risks may still exist. Therefore, even if the three thyroid function tests are normal, further examinations, such as thyroid ultrasound or antibody testing, may be necessary to confirm thyroid health.

Maintaining good lifestyle habits and avoiding excessive intake of iodine-rich foods are important to prevent triggering or worsening thyroid diseases. Regular follow-up testing of the three thyroid function tests and other related examinations is also necessary to monitor any changes in condition.
