Introduction
When bilirubin levels increase in newborns or children, if the elevation is caused by non-disease factors such as physiological jaundice, breast milk jaundice, or by some common pediatric diseases, these issues can usually be managed by pediatricians. Pediatricians will make decisions based on the child's age, weight, bilirubin levels, and the presence of other complications.

Pediatrics can usually manage elevated bilirubin levels caused by physiological jaundice, breast milk jaundice, and similar conditions. However, if the elevation is due to hepatobiliary system diseases, pediatrics may be unable to adequately address the issue. It is recommended to seek timely medical attention, identify the underlying cause, and proceed with symptomatic treatment under the guidance of specialized physicians.

When bilirubin levels rise in newborns or children, if the increase is caused by non-pathological factors such as physiological jaundice or breast milk jaundice, or by some common pediatric diseases, these issues are generally manageable by pediatricians. Based on the child's age, weight, bilirubin levels, and presence of other complications, pediatricians can formulate appropriate treatment plans such as phototherapy, exchange transfusion, or medication therapy.

If the elevated bilirubin is due to hemolytic diseases, such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia or blood type mismatches during transfusion, pediatricians may collaborate with hematologists to jointly develop a treatment plan. For bilirubin elevation caused by liver diseases such as viral hepatitis or cirrhosis, pediatricians may consult with hepatologists to create targeted treatment strategies, including liver protection and antiviral therapies.

When managing elevated bilirubin levels, parents should closely monitor changes in the child's condition and follow medical advice to select appropriate treatment methods.
