Introduction
Under normal circumstances, Lao Xiang Huang (a traditional Chinese medicine) may have some alleviating effect on hoarseness caused by certain factors, but it cannot achieve a therapeutic effect, and its suitability must be determined based on specific individual conditions. In daily life, if hoarseness occurs, one may first try a small amount of Lao Xiang Huang to observe the response, while drinking more warm water, avoiding excessive voice use, and staying away from irritating environments such as dust and smoke.

Generally, Lao Xiang Huang (aged preserved citrus peel) may help alleviate hoarseness caused by certain factors to some extent, but it cannot achieve a therapeutic effect, and its suitability must be determined based on individual circumstances. Detailed analysis is as follows:

Lao Xiang Huang is made from preserved citrus peel and has a sweet and sour flavor. It contains moisture and volatile oils that can, to some degree, moisturize the throat mucosa, relieving hoarseness caused by excessive talking, dry air, or mild throat discomfort, and temporarily improving symptoms such as dryness, itching in the throat, and difficulty speaking. Additionally, its sweet and sour taste can stimulate saliva secretion, helping to moisten the throat, temporarily reduce dryness and irritation of the vocal cords, and allow for brief improvement in voice quality.

However, a large amount of sugar is added during the pickling process of Lao Xiang Huang. Overconsumption may irritate the throat mucosa and worsen discomfort. Moreover, for hoarseness caused by conditions such as acute laryngitis, vocal polyps, or vocal cord edema, Lao Xiang Huang has no therapeutic effect and cannot eliminate inflammation or repair vocal cord lesions.

In daily life, if hoarseness occurs, a small amount of Lao Xiang Huang may be consumed initially to observe the response, while drinking plenty of warm water, avoiding excessive voice use, and staying away from irritating environments such as dust and smoke.
