Introduction
Dryness and itching in the throat, along with hoarseness, may be caused by dry environment, excessive voice use, throat trauma, acute pharyngitis, or allergic pharyngitis. These symptoms can be improved through measures such as keeping the throat moist, reducing voice use, local care, and medication. If symptoms persist or are accompanied by sore throat and fever, prompt medical attention is necessary. Low air humidity or insufficient water intake can lead to dehydration of the pharyngeal mucosa.

Dryness and itching in the throat, along with hoarseness, may be caused by dry environments, excessive voice use, throat injuries, acute pharyngitis, or allergic pharyngitis. Symptoms can be improved through throat moisturization, reducing voice use, local care, and medication. If symptoms persist or are accompanied by sore throat and fever, prompt medical attention is necessary.

1. Dry environment: Low air humidity or insufficient water intake can lead to moisture loss in the throat's mucous membrane, causing dryness, itching, hoarseness, and a sensation of a foreign body in the throat. It is recommended to drink more warm water to stay hydrated, use a humidifier indoors, and avoid spending prolonged periods in air-conditioned or heated environments.

2. Excessive voice use: Prolonged talking or loud shouting can cause congestion and swelling of the vocal cords, resulting in dryness, itching, and hoarseness; severe cases may involve difficulty speaking. It is advised to reduce frequency of speaking, avoid yelling, allow the vocal cords adequate rest, and rinse the throat with warm water if necessary.

3. Throat injury: Consuming excessively hot food, hard foods that scratch the throat's mucous membrane, or irritation from foreign objects can cause dryness, itching, hoarseness, and mild pain during swallowing. It is recommended to eat cool, soft, and easily digestible foods, avoid spicy and coarse foods, and reduce strain on the throat.

4. Acute pharyngitis: Viral or bacterial infections can trigger acute inflammation of the throat's mucous membrane, causing congestion and swelling of the vocal cords, leading to dryness, itching, hoarseness, sore throat, and cough. Under a doctor’s guidance, patients may take medications such as Pudilan Xiaoyan Oral Liquid, Watermelon Frost Throat Tablets, or Cefaclor Capsules to relieve symptoms.

5. Allergic pharyngitis: Exposure to allergens like pollen or dust mites can trigger an allergic reaction in the throat's mucous membrane, causing dryness, itching, hoarseness, irritative cough, and a tight feeling in the throat. Under medical supervision, medications such as Loratadine Syrup, Montelukast Sodium Chewable Tablets, or Budesonide Suspension may be used to alleviate discomfort.

To support throat recovery, maintain clean and moist throat conditions, avoid excessive voice use, smoking, and alcohol consumption, stay away from allergens and irritating gases, follow a light and easily digestible diet, and consume more throat-soothing foods such as pears and white fungus (silver ear).
