Itching after frostbite on the ears can generally be quickly relieved by gently applying warm compresses with lukewarm water, applying specialized chilblain anti-itch ointment, avoiding scratching or irritation, and wearing warm ear protectors. Prepare water at a temperature of 38–40°C, soak a clean towel in it, wring until half-dry, and then gently apply it to the frostbitten ears. Each warm compress should last 5–10 minutes, helping to promote blood circulation in the ears through gentle warmth.

3. Use mild moisturizing lotion: If chilblain ointment is unavailable, apply a fragrance-free, alcohol-free moisturizing lotion to hydrate the frostbitten skin and relieve dryness-related itching. This also forms a protective barrier on the skin surface to minimize external irritation. Gently massage after application to enhance absorption.

4. Avoid scratching and irritation: Resist the urge to scratch when itchy. Instead, gently press the area with clean fingers to relieve discomfort. Scratching may damage the fragile skin of the frostbitten area, leading to breaks in the skin, infection, and worsening of both itching and frostbite. If itching is severe, repeat warm compresses or reapply ointment for relief.

5. Wear warm ear protectors: While treating the itch, promptly wear soft, breathable ear warmers to prevent further exposure of the ears to cold environments, reducing the risk of worsening or recurrent frostbite. The material should be soft to avoid friction-induced discomfort on the injured area.

When going outdoors, take preventive measures to keep ears warm by choosing windproof and insulating ear protectors or scarves. Seek medical attention promptly if the frostbitten area develops open wounds, pus discharge, or if itching continues to worsen, to prevent further deterioration of the condition.
