Introduction
Acute bronchitis is an acute inflammation of the tracheal and bronchial mucosa caused by infection, physical or chemical irritants, or allergic reactions.
1. Antibiotics should be administered if fever, purulent sputum, or worsening cough develops.
2. Antitussive and expectorant medications should be used.
3. Bronchodilators and anti-asthmatic agents should be administered for severe coughing.
4. Ultrasonic nebulization (i.e., airway nebulized inhalation therapy) should be employed.
