Efficacy and Actions of Clobetasol Propionate Cream
Halometasol ointment is a potent corticosteroid formulation primarily used for anti-inflammatory treatment. It is most commonly prescribed for allergic skin conditions. Occasionally, it may also be used for other conditions such as scars and vitiligo.
The most frequent indications include allergic disorders such as eczema and dermatitis. Although halometasol ointment exerts anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effects, its high potency also carries potential adverse effects.
For common dermatological conditions like dermatitis and eczema, clinicians typically prefer medium- or low-potency corticosteroid ointments—such as mometasone furoate (Elocon) or triamcinolone acetonide (Yuzhuo’er)—rather than halometasol ointment, which is used less frequently. When halometasol is prescribed, careful attention must be paid to treatment duration to minimize risks of adverse effects, including cutaneous atrophy.
