Introduction
Plantar pain may result from the following causes: - Excessive physical activity over a prolonged period can gradually lead to inflammation, resulting in pain in the sole of the foot. - Wearing rigid-soled or high-heeled shoes frequently places increased pressure and tension on the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. - Individuals with obesity experience greater mechanical load on their feet during physical activity due to increased body weight, thereby raising the risk of injury.

There are four primary causes of plantar foot pain:

1. Individuals who frequently engage in excessive walking or intense running may subject their Achilles tendons and foot muscles to prolonged or excessive strain. Over time, this cumulative fatigue can lead to inflammation and subsequent plantar pain.

2. People who habitually wear hard-soled shoes or high heels experience greater impact forces and reduced shock absorption at the sole during walking. This places increased stress and tension on the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. To mitigate this, opt for footwear with adequate arch support and thicker, softer soles to better absorb impact. Additionally, keeping a pair of lightweight, flat shoes or slippers at your office provides your feet with much-needed relief throughout the day.

3. Individuals with higher body weight—particularly those who are overweight or obese—are more prone to plantar pain. Their feet bear significantly greater mechanical loads during activity, while limited ankle joint mobility further diminishes natural shock absorption, thereby increasing injury risk.

4. Older adults: With advancing age, the elasticity and resilience of the plantar fascia gradually decline, raising the likelihood of microtears during physical activity. To minimize injury risk, older adults should perform thorough stretching before and after exercise and consciously incorporate foot-strengthening and flexibility exercises into their daily routines.
