Causes of Elevated Uric Acid in Children

Excessive intake of high-purine foods—such as seafood, organ meats, and meat broths—leads to increased purine metabolism and subsequent overproduction of uric acid, markedly raising serum uric acid levels. Second, metabolic disorders—abnormalities in hepatic enzymes impair the liver’s ability to properly metabolize purines, resulting in significantly elevated blood uric acid levels.

Renal dysfunction: Impaired kidney function—particularly abnormal renal tubular function—hinders efficient urinary excretion of uric acid, leading to its accumulation in the bloodstream and markedly elevated serum uric acid levels.
