Can Ten-Drop Water treat prickly heat?
Prickly heat, also known as miliaria, is a common superficial inflammatory skin condition occurring in hot, humid summer environments. So, can Ten-Drop Water (Shi Di Shui) treat prickly heat?
Can Ten-Drop Water Treat Prickly Heat?
Ten-Drop Water not only has heat-clearing properties but can also be applied topically to treat prickly heat. The specific method is as follows: first, wash the affected area with warm water to remove sweat and sebum; then apply Ten-Drop Water directly onto the lesions and allow it to air-dry naturally. A mild burning sensation may occur after application, but itching and discomfort typically subside within several minutes. Apply the medication 2–3 times daily; in most cases, prickly heat resolves within 2–3 days. For more severe cases, treatment duration may be extended until full recovery.

When using this method, special care must be taken with infants’ delicate skin. Ten-Drop Water must be diluted with warm water at a ratio of 1:10 (1 part Ten-Drop Water to 10 parts warm water). Then, use a cotton swab dipped in the diluted solution to gently wipe the affected areas, removing sweat and oils. With a fresh cotton swab, apply the diluted Ten-Drop Water to the lesions and allow it to air-dry. As this preparation has mild irritant properties, transient stinging or burning may occur. We recommend applying it approximately three times daily for infants. Once symptoms improve, the frequency of application may be gradually reduced. During bathing, the diluted solution may be gently rinsed off, but avoid using soap or shower gel, as these may interfere with the medication’s efficacy.

For infants and young children with prickly heat, we recommend diluting Ten-Drop Water with warm water at a ratio of 1:10 to prevent excessive concentration, which could cause skin irritation or burning discomfort. We hope this information proves helpful!
