What Examinations Are Required During Pregnancy?
Pregnant women require routine blood and urine tests, liver and kidney function assessments, blood pressure monitoring, and color Doppler ultrasound examinations.
1. Blood and Urine Routine Tests: During the first prenatal visit, a comprehensive physical examination is performed. Blood and urine routine tests help identify potential infections, anemia, or other abnormalities.
2. Liver and Kidney Function Tests: Monitoring liver and kidney function is essential to ensure optimal fetal growth and development. Abnormal liver or kidney function may adversely affect fetal health.
3. Blood Pressure Measurement: Both hypotension and hypertension can cause symptoms such as generalized fatigue, dizziness, and nausea, potentially compromising maternal and fetal well-being; therefore, regular blood pressure assessment is necessary.
4. Color Doppler Ultrasound: Ultrasound imaging during pregnancy enables evaluation of fetal growth and development. Particularly between 20–24 weeks’ gestation, a detailed four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound is recommended to effectively screen for fetal structural anomalies.
