How long does blood pressure take to normalize after aldosterone surgery?
Disease description:
I previously had hypertension, which led to kidney problems. I recently underwent an aldosterone-producing adenoma surgery (adrenalectomy). How long does it typically take for blood pressure to normalize after this surgery?
Hello,
After adrenalectomy for aldosteronism, a patient’s blood pressure typically normalizes gradually over approximately six months. If mild hypertension persists, spironolactone and/or other antihypertensive medications may be added for control. In general, antihypertensive drugs are significantly more effective postoperatively than preoperatively.
We recommend adequate rest, avoiding late-night activities, and consuming foods rich in vitamin B and amino acids—such as whole grains, fish, green leafy vegetables, and eggs. Proper rest and appropriate dietary adjustments are essential. Engage in moderate physical activity, and follow a low-salt, low-fat diet. Additionally, maintain emotional well-being and psychological relaxation.
