Disease description:

My family has a history of hereditary diabetes. I was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes one month ago, so I now monitor my blood glucose levels daily. Could you please explain how to use the lancet for blood glucose testing?

Dr. Zhang Nan
When measuring blood glucose, first select an appropriate site on the fingertip, then disinfect the area with alcohol. Remove the lancet cap and prick the fingertip skin directly with the lancet to obtain a small drop of blood. Place the blood sample onto the test strip, and the blood glucose meter will display the reading—allowing assessment of glycemic control. If blood glucose is poorly controlled, prompt medication adjustment is necessary to prevent various complications and promote overall health.
