Elevated hemoglobin levels in infants can be categorized into physiological and pathological types. Physiological elevation is typically caused by hemoconcentration due to excessive sweating; this usually resolves with adequate hydration. Pathological elevation, however, is often associated with conditions such as congenital heart disease or tumors. In such cases, diagnostic confirmation requires echocardiography and tumor marker testing.
